Isabella is in a phase where she loves showing off a sense of excitement.
See what I mean? :)
Can the Sox dig themselves out of another ALCS hole? Down 7 runs with 9 outs left, would you imagine this result? Un-f******-believable!
Last night, I made a reference to my homemade vodka sauce recipe on Twitter. I received a few messages from people asking how I make my vodka sauce, so I figured I’d share the recipe with you all on my blog.
Ingredients:
4 tbsp. butter (1/2 stick)
1 medium size yellow onion, diced or sliced into rings
3/4 cup vodka (non-flavored)
3 cloves of garlic, minced
16 oz. tomato sauce
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 c. grated parmesan cheeseMelt butter in large skillet or frying pan (at least 2 1/2 inches deep) on medium heat. Add garlic to butter for 2 minutes. Add onion to pan for 3 minutes, or until onion is clear. Add vodka to pan and let simmer for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add tomato sauce to pan and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. While tomato sauce mixture is simmering, whip heavy cream lightly (medium speed for 1 1/2 minutes). Add cream to sauce. Reduce heat to low-medium. Do not let sauce boil. Stir until cream and tomato sauce mixture has even consistency, gradually adding parmesan cheese to thicken. Sauce is ready when thick and has a deep orange/pink color.
Serve over linguine or spaghetti.
To complement the dish, I typically pan-fry some chicken tenderloins in a little olive oil and lay it on top of a plate of pasta before pouring the sauce over it. And, I like to cut the onions in rings as consuming the onions seems to bother my stomach a little bit, and it’s easier to set them aside while I eat if they’re sliced into rings.
If you have any questions or recipe modifications you’d like to share, feel free to contact me. Bon appétit!
Only at Courtside will you find a poster this awesome.
It’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of August right now. Check out this weather forecast for Cambridge over the next week. (Normally, the highs are in the 90s this time of year.)
Thanks, global warming!
Like many original iPhone owners, I recently upgraded to the iPhone 3G, but I wasn’t sure what to do with my old phone. I looked on eBay to see what the going price was for old iPhones and I was stunned. An average price of $350 for an old, used iPhone? Gadgets rarely maintain that sort of value a year later. (I bought mine for $399 ($599 plus a $200 credit from AmEx when Apple decided to drop the price to $399 for everyone. And then Apple credited all the $599 buyers with a $100 credit, so I guess I paid $299!)
Anyway, the trick to getting the best value for your old iPhone is to “pwn” it, or unlock/jailbreak/activate it using a tool such as Pwnage Tool 2.0. (Disclaimer: You must have some idea of what you’re doing when unlocking your phone, otherwise you’ll forever ruin your iPhone!). Once you do this, you’re not only unlocking the iPhone to be used on any GSM-based carrier around the world, but you’re also unlocking its value. iPhones that can be used on any carrier are highly desirable, and until the iPhone 3G can be both unlocked and purchased without a contract, the original iPhone is highly desirable. Hence, you can sell your old iPhone for more than what you paid for it. (I sold mine for $460.)
Of course, it won’t be like this for very long. An iPhone 3G unlock solution is sure to be around the corner, so if you’re thinking of selling your old iPhone, act fast and good luck!
WordPress for the iPhone is now available at the iTunes App Store. This is my first post using it, and although the amount of functionality available within the application is limited, it should entice me to update my blog more often.
If you have an iPhone and a blog powered by WordPress, what are you waiting for? Download the WordPress app now!
Dara spent a few hours last night compiling and uploading various photos and videos of “our babies” to Facebook and YouTube. There is some great footage to share with you all, so make sure to check out fruits of her labor!
